Gratitude & Conversation
5 questions to ensure Thanksgiving dinner doesn't suck.
Howdy from Media, PA,
Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow American readers!
We're going with a brief dinner conversation guide instead of a full-length article this week.
5 Questions to Facilitate Great Conversation at Thanksgiving Dinner
It seems like folks gather around the Thanksgiving table with a bit more anxiety than they used to.
Is your Uncle Bill going to discuss politics?
Will your cousin, Steve, talk incessantly about crypto?
How many glasses of wine until Aunt Amanda asks you about your dating life?
Have no fear. We can steer you away from all of this.
Here are 5 questions to help you facilitate meaningful conversation that keeps folks present at the table:
What's the goofiest/funniest thing that happened to you in 2022?
Who is someone that you couldn't have navigated 2022 without?
What is the greatest act of love that you were on the receiving end of this year?
What do you want to accomplish in December so that you can set yourself up for a great 2023?
Despite the country's challenges, what's one thing that you are grateful for which might not be possible if you were born outside of the US?
And while it's funny to think about your Aunt Amanda questioning you about your dating life, I also know that some readers may not be around a Thanksgiving table this year due to work obligations or life circumstances.
If that's the case for you, consider replying with your answers to the questions above!
That'll give you and me a chance to facilitate a fun Thanksgiving convo 1-on-1 (without even having to do any dishes!)
Have a wonderful holiday ◡̈
Photos of The Week
Locations this past week: Greenville, SC -> Durham, NC -> Herndon, VA -> Elkton, MD -> Media, PA
The photo on the left of Liberty Bridge in Greenville, SC was featured in the 5/12/22 edition of The Build. The photo on the right was taken this past week (6 months later.) Fitting that this was the last stop on my van journey as I could visually see myself entering a different season of life.
I was only in my new place in Durham for 36 hours, but my roommate and I built a fire pit and hosted a house warming during that time!
Congratulations to my friends, Kyle and Angela, on tying the knot in Maryland!
