The Van Build Case Study

Full documentation on the van build from design to completion & van video #5.

Howdy from Jackson, WY,

Welcome to the 3 new subscribers from last week.

I'm off from work for 2 weeks and am havin' a blast in Wyoming.

The full case study on the van build and photos from Wyoming are included below.

The Complete Story Behind the Van

It wasn't just my goal to build the van.

I wanted to make sure I did a good job of telling its story as well.

You've been reading the equivalent of my digital postcards from the road via this newsletter, but I wanted to create a single place for a complete record of the van build.

That's why I created a case study on the build process in my online portfolio.

What's in the case study?

  • Before & after photos

  • The schematic I designed

  • 5 Videos showcasing the build

  • The story of why I bought the van in the first place

Van Video #5

I've sent 1 video per week in the newsletter over the past month.

  1. Design & Demolition

  2. Vertical Framing & Sound Insulation

  3. Building the Bed Frame

  4. Wool Insulation & Walls

  5. Cabinets & Countertop

The last video, Cabinets & Countertop, can be found below.

All 5 videos can be found in the case study above!

Photos of The Week

Location this past week: Cheyenne, WY -> Laramie, WY -> Jackson, WY

One of the original carriages that toured folks through Yellowstone in the early 20th century at the Wyoming State Museum in Cheyenne.

Laramie, WY - named after French trapper Jacques LaRamie. The Union Pacific chose this site as a hub when building the railroad, which led to the creation of the town.

The University of Wyoming's mascot, the cowboy. This has to be the coolest insignia in all of college sports. This might be the Eagles fan in me talkin', but the Dallas Cowboys star has nothing on this.

Josh Allen, the current Buffalo Bills quarterback, was a late bloomer. He went to junior college before coming to the University of Wyoming, a small football program. He's now widely considered a top 5 NFL quarterback. Not many folks believed he could get to that level of pro sports from this stadium, but he did. Gotta love an underdog.

A few bouldering walls at the base of a ski slope that I'm camped out at.

The Cowboy in Jackson - there are few things I love more in life than 2 stepping to a live band.

Caroline, me, and the Tetons.

Thanks for reading
